Artist's Comments

Taken at Anime Boston 2008 by MEGHANCLAPOINTE (link to her image).

Not the best picture of my new coat by far. I'll be taking it in at the waist to try to minimize the buckling effect when I kneel or sit down.

However, it's a fairly decent showing of my Way to the Dawn, which was made by the very talented :iconinvader-gir:. It's so pretty. Wig is also by the same person.

Hopefully I'll have better pictures of this costume soon.

I painted a Way to Dawn too..for like 6 hours and then I started getting sloppy..and ran outta paint...and I fail at paintin-THAT THING IS BEAUTIFUL -stares at it- what lovely shading, and colors... TwT

Its actually probably around the same amount of time. I started on it like last month and got most of it done before messing up and pretty much restarting from scratch (aka painting it completely black). Ended up painting the rest of it literally Friday night in the hotel room.

It was the fastest paint job for something that big I have EVER done. The last one I did for last years AB took me between 4 and 8 hours of painting. Thank god I had taken all the time to actually shape the details into the wood so I didn't have to spend so much time making everything match.

-stares at it still-....I love the shading on it...I fail at painting. I just painted. At one in the morning..I didn't care how it looked...then I was unaware that half of it was touching the plastic i put under it so the paint kinda molded to some of the plastic XD

Like I said, :iconinvader-gir: was the one that made it. I want to say that she actually airbrushed it, but don't hold me to that.

It is really well done...she's such a good artist. She did the design of the keyblade a lot of justice.

Totally. It's like the real thing.

Naw its all dry brushed, I didn't have the room to cart all of my airbrush stuff with me. Plus as much as i love my airbrush I'm still much better when it comes to dry brushing.

haha I used to be guilty of that all the time. I've found the easiest trick is to mix a little more of the color than you think you'll need and only dab your brush into it and apply. Just start at black and then user darker colors and work your way up until its light enough.
